The position

The Human Rights and Social Responsibility unit is part of this Climate and Sustainability sector and is responsible for providing professional expertise and personnel to BAs and Corporate according to business needs and corporate priorities in the field of human rights and social responsibility.

Respecting the human rights of people impacted by our activities is fundamental to business success and an imperative ambition as set forth in our aim of Always Safe. Equinors commitment to respecting human rights is embedded in the Code of Conduct and the stand-alone Human Rights Policy.

Equinors current business landscape represents potential for human rights impacts and subsequent business exposure. As Equinor expands its business, risks are expected to evolve. Further, expectations from external stakeholders increase, and legal requirements are introduced, such as in Norway, the US and EU and in Brazil

Through our core business and supply chain, we create significant economic value and opportunities for society and communities through taxes, jobs, skills, education, innovation and social investments.

The expectations to deliver value to communities beyond the fundamental requirements to prevent harm are also increasing as we transition with societies to a low carbon economy.

Hence, Equinors performance in the social space is a key business enabler and there is a need to further strengthen the team to support and drive this agenda in projects and operations.

By joining our team in CFO Functional Center of Excellence you will have the opportunity to:
  • Establish benefit-sharing strategies on country and project level
  • Develop social initiatives (both voluntary and mandatory) from concept to implementation aligned with the Resilient Host communities pillar of Equinors just transition framework and in accordance with internal requirements for management of social investments, as well as plan and lead community engagement efforts.
  • Follow-up and monitoring of social investment projects implemented by third party consultants
  • Contribute to needed assessment studies and the process to identify impactful social initiatives
  • Support business line SSU personnel with subject matter expertise on social performance
  • Contribute to developing and promoting best practice within social performance, identifying social indicators relevant to risks and performance for assets (Equinor operated, and partner operated)
  • Support and ensure quality in internal and external reporting on social data according to relevant internal and external requirements including reports to Brazilian authorities
  • Stay updated on external developments and best practice for social performance
  • Deliver training and awareness raising activities for leaders and professionals on social responsibility.
  • Represent Equinor in external forums and entities linked to social performance

You

  • A Masters degree preferred
  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in social responsibility matters
  • Competence on social performance and relevant regulatory standards and frameworks on social responsibility
  • Relevant experience from implementing social investment projects required by environmental authorities such as IBAMA.
  • Experience with community engagement and management of social investments projects (contractual and voluntary)
  • Ability to participate actively in teams and collaborate across Equinor for improved performance
  • Ability to see improvement opportunities and to contribute to improvement initiatives
  • High analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills and ability to influence stakeholders across the organization and outside the company
  • Fluent English and Portuguese language and communication skills, both oral and written
  • Travel locally within Brazil is expected, with occasional travel internationally
